Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kamrup has been awarded the best Zonal Krishi Vigyan Kendra under the Zone III by the ICAR. The award has been received by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Dr. K. M. Bujarbaruah, and Programme Coordinator, KVK, Kamrup, Dr. D. N. Kalita in New Delhi at a prestigious ceremony held at the NAAS complex, ICAR, New Delhi.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kamrup has played a vital role in strengthening production base through area expansion of various flower crops and raising their productivity. It has initiated various training programmes, including vocational training on farm trials, front line demonstrations and related market-led extension activities. KVK, Kamrup has also played a pivotal role in the cultivation of Malbhog banana and technology showcasing programme in paddy through large-scale demonstrations leading to quality seed production.
KVK, Kamrup, which is one of the front runner KVK's of North Eastern Region has conducted a large number of training programmes on dairy animal production, goat keeping, pig and poultry farming, vegetables and fruit production technologies, vermi-composting, nursery raising and fish cultivation and demonstrated improved technologies and package of practices which have played significant role in improving the income and livelihood security of the farmers of the area.
