About Guru Angad Dev University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) was established at Ludhiana on August 9, 2005 by an act of the Punjab Legislature No. 16 of 2005 notified in the Punjab Government Gazette and it started functioning from April 21, 2006.

The university has six colleges under it namely College of Veterinary Science, College of dairy Science & Technology, College of Fisheries, Veterinary Polytechnic Kaljiharani, Khalsa College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Amritsar, Baba Hira Dass Ji College of Veterinary Pharmacy Muktsar.

University has two research stations namely Regional Research and Training Centre, Kaljharani (Bathinda) and Regional Livestock and Poultry Research and Training Centre, Talwara (Hoshiarpur).

The library provides access to about 3400 journals in the broad spectrum of Agricultural Sciences including Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry, Livestock Management & Poultry Sciences, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Animal Nutrition and allied subjects through the Consortium for electronic Resources in Agriculture (CeRA).

The university library has also subscribed to 11 foreign journals, 7 Indian journals and two databases during the year 2013-14.
