Tenali : A New Kagzi Lime variety

A New Kagzi Lime variety namely Tenali has recently been developed. The newly developed variety is resistant to bacterial blight. The variety trail is conducted in Baramati district on experimental basis. The report from All India Co-ordinated Research Project on Citrus stated that the average yield is 2573 fruits per plant. On an average, the fruit weighs 40-70 gms. The cloned citrus plant does not show any signs of bacterial blight. In Tenali variety only 8% fruits are affected, whereas in case of other varieties 40-50 % fruits are affected by blight. This variety is supposed to be high yielding and will prove a boon to dryland agriculture.
