Agriculture News : Soil Mapping Project in Goa between ICAR-NBSS and LUP
A MoU has been signed between ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning and Directorate of Agriculture,
Government of Goa on Characterization and mapping of land resources of Goa State under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY)
Under this mega project, the NBSS&LUP will map the fallow lands in the state and recommend land use pattern, characterize
soils and undertake nutrient mapping in all the 12 talukas of the state.
In the survey, the ICARNBSS&LUP will study the cropping pattern the field can support, the field number-wise nutrients,
the varieties of crops it can introduce and the quantity and type of fertilizer required.
All this data will be uploaded on the websites of the Director etc and NBSS&LUP. Any farmer may log in, key in the required
survey number, obtain all data required and do farming as advised.
Mr. Orlando Rodrigues, Director of Agriculture, Government of Goa expressed the hope that the project would go a long way
in enhancing agricultural development of the state.
