New scheme Bhavantar Bharpai implemented in Haryana

State agriculture minister O P Dhankar said, Haryana is heading towards realising the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double the income of farmers by 2022.

In this series, a new scheme called 'Bhavantar Bharpai' is being implemented in the interest of farming community for fixing the procurement rates of vegetables such as potato, tomato, onion and cabbage from January 2018 onwards, he said.

Dhankar said the government in the state had provided about Rs 3,000 crore to compensate the crop loss to farmers during the last three years.

The government had also increased the compensation amount for crop loss due to natural calamity from Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000 per acre, he said.

Dhankar was speaking after launching the portal of 'Haryana Pashu Chikitsak Parishad' and Haryana Veterinary journal.

Dhankar said that there were about 36 lakh milch animals in the state and average milk production per day is 2.46 crore litres.

"We want to enhance this figure to 3.60 crore litres in coming five years," he said.

The per capita milk availability in the state has also increased during last three years, he said.
