Government Agriculture Schemes

Benefits of Agri schemes should reach genuine farmers

ITANAGAR - Informing about the union government’s schemes and flagship programmes to boost the agriculture sector, the Bhartiya Janata Kishan Morcha’s (BJKM) state president Dunggoli Libang on Thursday urged the agriculture department to ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach “only the genuine farmers of the state.”

Addressing media persons at the press club, Libang said the Centre has launched several schemes, “from irrigation to soil health management, organic farming to crop insurance,” under various schemes and flagship programmes to improve productivity and double the farmers’ income by 2022.

“Various schemes and flagship programmes are coming up with a view to making the state self-sufficient in agriculture and allied sectors,” Libang said, adding that when the schemes are implemented the living standard of the farmers would improve and “the face of the state will change to a great extent in agriculture and allied sectors.”

Underlining the central and state governments’ stress on improving the state’s agriculture sector, Libang said Arunachal “can march ahead through white and blue revolutions as the state is very feasible in that area.”

He said the BJKM is making all-out efforts to create awareness among the farmers on the schemes and flagship programmes, and urged the officers and officials of the line departments to provide benefits “only to the genuine farmers.”
