Wyffels Hybrids Seed Company Donated Farm Equipment to WIU

MACOMB, IL – Wyffels Hybrids recently donated some of its retired and fully-operational research equipment to Western Illinois University, including a combine with a three-row corn head and a four-row planter.

The donation also included spare parts for the equipment. An identical donation was given to another Illinois university.

Customer relations manager for Wyffels Hybrids, Blake Wyffels said, "We know both colleges have prestigious academic programs that involve plot work, so we felt our equipment would be a good fit."

WIU School of Agriculture Director Andy Baker said the new equipment will help the school streamline its planting and harvesting operations next year.

"The newer technology embedded in the combine and planter will be able to speed up our operations in the spring and the fall with hopes in reducing our costs, as well," he said. "We certainly appreciate being on Wyffels' short list and hope we can continue our positive relationship with them well into the future."

According to Wyffels, the company supports a number of universities across its footprint as part of a commitment to give back to the community.

Wyffels also said, "We feel the success of all public university research is important to corn growers, and a rich part of Wyffels Hybrids' roots as a company."

Wyffels Hybrids, headquartered in Geneseo, IL, focuses on developing and marketing corn hybrids, serving corn growers in Illinois, Iowa, southern Wisconsin, southwestern Minnesota, southeastern South Dakota and the Ohio River Valley.
